The Central German Handicrafts Fair (mitteldeutsche handwerksmesse) showcases the variety and quality of handicrafts.

Handicraft companies, primarily from central Germany, present their products and services. Visitors have the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information and advice. Active participation of visitors and first-hand experience are also promoted by numerous special shows and the supporting and trade programme.

As the third-largest German handicrafts fair and one of the most important economic forums for Central German handicrafts, the fair provides a showcase for handicraft professions in a single venue.

Combined stands of the chambers of crafts from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern present handicrafts from their respective regions.

Demonstrations

• 'Glass Bakery' and 'Glass Butcher Shop'
  Visitors can watch the practitioners of these richly traditional trades as they make bread, baked goods and meat products.

Special Exhibitions

• Masterpieces of the Butcher's Trade in Saxony
  Candidates in Saxony for the title of Master Butcher create their practical examination pieces at the show (only on 15 February 2014)
• Designers and the Skilled Crafts
  Exhibition of work by students on 'Applied Design and Craft' courses
• Living Workshops
  The Leipzig Chamber of Crafts offers comprehensive insight into the diversity of trades and crafts. Visitors to the show can try out their skills.
• Museum of Turret Clocks
  Visitors can come and be inspired by the historic clock mechanisms.
• Interest Group for Electrical Mechanisms of the Past
  A large number of curious experiments with potential difference, current and resistance will be on display.
• Printing Museum
  A selection of items will be on show to demonstrate this historic craft in an active and approachable way.
