Low Emission Zone (Environmental Sticker)
Leipzig is not only an environmentally conscious city but also joins the ranks of Berlin, Cologne and Hannover as a city with a low emission zone on March 1, 2011. The objective is to decrease the concentration of fine particulates.
The low emission zone encompasses large areas of the city including the city center. The low emission zone does not include Leipzig’s Exhibition Center or Airport, however. The low emission zone is indicated with traffic signs.
Only vehicles that have an environmental sticker or which fulfill the exceptional circumstances are permitted to drive in the low emission zone. The sticker can be obtained in Leipzig’s town hall. In addition, you can also get a sticker for your vehicle from any federal motor vehicle registration office, an officially recognized technical inspectorate for motor vehicles and an automobile repair shop in Germany.
